Hands-on course on educational video for teachers
Submitted Thursday, June 17, 2010 - 09:50A week-long course entitled ‘Using Video to Support Lifelong Learning’ is being organised in the Leuven Institute for Ireland in Europe in Belgium from 14 February 2011. This course will provide participants with the basics of video capture and editing as well as training on how to publish video materials online.
Aimed at enthusiastic newcomers, this course will also address issues to do with video as a learning tool and how best to use video at all levels of teaching and learning. One of the goals of the course will be for participants to create their own educational video resource during the week-long workshop.
Participants will stay in the centre of the historic city of Leuven in the recently renovated Leuven Institute for Ireland in Europe which is where the course will take place.
Funding to cover the full costs of participation including accommodation and flights is available through the Comenius/Grundtvig programme of the European Commission, you can access the course details here. The deadline for application for this funding is 15/09/2010.
Workshop on Enhancing E-Learning in Higher and Further Education
Submitted Friday, January 8, 2010 - 14:46Despite the bad weather conditions in northern Europe, ATiT staff are planning to take part in the Learning and Technology World Forum 2010 being held in London 11-13 January.
This will include leading an innovation exchange session entitled "Critical Success Scheme for Step-Change in E-Learning" on Tuesday 12th. This session will be highly interactive and will provide an opportunity to further test the validity of the Critical and Key Success factors for e-learning that were developed during the Re.ViCa project. Participants will also receive a copy of the recently published handbook, "Reviewing the Virtual Campus Phenomenon: The Rise of Large-scale e-Learning Initiatives Worldwide" which provides a wealth of background on the Virtual Campus phenomenon as well as a snapshot of the current status of Virtual Campuses worldwide.
European Schools' Video Service Prepares for Piloting
Submitted Sunday, October 18, 2009 - 20:53After a year of hard work, the EduTubePlus partners met for their first annual meeting in Rome on the 15/16 October to review progress and plan for the coming months. This meeting took place in the historical Sala 1 - the first radio studio used by RAI. It was a fitting location given the importance placed on educational content by RAI from the early days of the station during the reconstruction following World War II which continues to this day.
The first version of the EduTubePlus platform is almost ready and video content is being segmented and prepared for incluson. At the same time pedagogical scenarios utilising video material from the library are being prepared. Planning for the first user trials is now underway and will involve schools in Greece, Hungary, Italy, Finland, Belgium and the UK.

Training Course in New Interactive Site in Freetown
Submitted Monday, June 22, 2009 - 13:11ATiT are leading a training course in Sierra Leone from 22 to 24 June on the new interactive web service that has been designed for the Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA). Built using Drupal, this site allows experts to register their company and activities and make themselves available for parterships inside and outside the country. It also allows SLIEPA staff to provide information, business intelligence and connections to help local businesses grow and to contribute to the economic growth of Sierra Leone.
Teachers' Workshop in Ireland to Start Social Networking Trials
Submitted Monday, May 11, 2009 - 09:57As part of the European Commission supported SoRuraLL project, ATiT held a workshop in the Clare Education Centre in Ennis on Thursday 7 May on the topic of Social Networking and how tools supporting the creation of user-generated content can be used in primary and secondary schools.
Teachers from 5 primary schools in County Clare took part in this workshop which also provided an opportunity to talk about the trials that will take place in the 2009 - 2010 school year.
Google Calendar Training for Small Businesses

Google Calendar is part of Google Apps Professional edition, a package of Google's communication and collaboration tools including Google Mail, Google Calendar, Google Documents and Google Sites and is a really useful tool for helping small companies and organisations manage and track their appointments and activities.
ATiT now offers a face-to-face customised training module including a manual and a handy "CheatSheet" on Google (Apps Pro.) Calendar which offers many features that SMEs, organisations and networks can benefit from. These include commonly known calendar features like the ability to share your calendar with your colleagues or viewing the availability of a colleague or guest when scheduling a meeting, to more advanced functions such as the availability of resources, online AND offline access to the calendar and the ability to synchronise with other calendar applications or smartphones.

Live Video Production for EAGS Training Workshop
Submitted Monday, October 27, 2008 - 21:23On Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 October 2008, ATiT provided the video production services for a successful training session of the European Academy for Gynaecological Surgery (EAGS). Endoscopic as well as other camera images were transmitted via IP videoconferencing as well as terrestrial microwave links between the operation theatres of the Hospitals of Zuid Oost Limburg (Genk) and Heilig Hart (Leuven) and the EAGS Auditorium in Leuven (Belgium). An additional connection transmitted the same programme for part of the day to the ESGE Live Demonstration Workshop 2008 in the Military Medical Academy in Sofia (Bulgaria).
Live Surgery for Training Medics in Leuven
Submitted Tuesday, April 8, 2008 - 11:47ATiT organised a live surgery session via Interactive TV in Leuven on 4th April for Integra LifeSciences Services which took place in the Faculty Club, Leuven.
This training session for surgeons coming from a number of different European countries included a live wireless TV link with an operation theatre in the nearby H. Hart Hospital where participants in the training workshop could watch and comment on the live surgery taking place, discussing procedures with the surgeon and her team while the operation was taking place.
