The November edition of the Re.ViCa newsletter is now available.

Highlights this month include:

• a presentation of the Re.ViCa Handbook which is about to be published and a sneak preview of its contents
• an overview of the collaborative work carried out by the Re.ViCa International Advisory Committee and the growing network of experts contributing to the virtual campus wiki
• a summary of the current status of the Open University of Japan by International Expert Dr. Kumiko Aoki
• introductions to several experts in the field; David Porter (BCcampus, Canada), Em. Prof. Terry Mayes (Glasgow Caledonian University, UK) and Em. Prof. Gajaraj Dhanarajan (Wawasan Open University, Malaysia)
• a round-up of announcements, reports and publications in the field of e-learning and the virtual campus

The ICL conference held in Villach 23-25 September provided a good opportunity to promote the Virtual Campuses wiki created by the Re.ViCa consortium. Re.ViCa team member Sally Reynolds gave a presentation about the extensive Virtual Campus inventory available in the wiki and invited conference participants to visit, use and update the wiki. She also described some of the analytical work carried out by the team supported by international experts which identified factors influencing the success or otherwise of virtual campus initiatives worldwide.
 

The July/August edition of the Re.ViCa newsletter about Virtual Campuses is now available and features an article about the popular Virtual Campus wiki which has attracted 3,506 unique visitors since the beginning of July.

The newsletter also includes news and reports about recent relevant publications and events, information about forthcoming conferences, introductions to several experts and project news.

With more than 1200 content pages, the recently launched Re.ViCa wiki is probably one of the largest open resources on the topic of Virtual Campus available today. Developed by the Re.ViCa project team, this wiki contains information about programmes, initiatives and leading institutions as well as a rapidly growing series of country reports describing Virtual Campuses around the world. Visitors are welcome, if you would like to add to or augment the wiki, then all you have to do is register.

A meeting of the Re.ViCa partners including Nikki Cortoos and Sally Reynolds from ATiT took place on Tuesday 21st in EuroPACE when the team spent the day working on the final outcomes of the project. The extensive project wiki on the topic of Virtual Campus will be made public during the M-2009 conference, being held on 7-10 June 2009 in Maastricht in the Netherlands.

The team are also working on a series of Critical Success Factors to be made available in the project handbook, due to be published in September along with a comparison of European and Non-European Virtual Campuses.

The next meeting of the project’s International Advisory Committee will also take place during the M-2009 conference.
